AAG Cadet Pilots Undergo Jungle Survival Training

Sapang Uwak, Porac, Pampanga, Philippines – Cadet pilots of AAG Airline Pilot Program (APP) 05-2022 successfully completed the Jungle Survival and Survival Swimming (JS) training on 12 May 2023 at the PEACE Kamp Research and Resource Center.

The 2-day JS training is a non-academic component of the private pilot license (PPL) phase of the APP designed to enable the cadet pilots to learn wilderness survival techniques and apply them in possible emergency situations. The cadet pilots went through 12 hours of theoretical instructions and practical exercises on basic mountaineering, fire building, wildlife identification, wilderness survival techniques (including first aid and food foraging), and survival swimming which were administered by instructors composed of Aetas, an indigenous tribe in the Philippines, among the most skilled when it comes to jungle survival. A total of 26 JS training have been conducted since 2017.

“On top of acquiring knowledge and skills on survival, the JS training also provides our cadet pilots an opportunity to immerse with the local community. Social and cultural engagements are key components of our incipient environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiative,” shares Ma. Rufina Santos (AAG Philippines Head of Student Affairs and Client Relations). (AAG Corporate Affairs)
